Blog post 2 Gregory Crewdson

Gregory Crewdson was born in brooklyn 1962 and he attended john dewey high school where he gained an interest in photography. In the mid 80s he began to study work and study at Suny pictures where he then received a masters in fine art. He now teaches at Yale university on other the top university's in America.

The picture I have chosen I on of his most famous pictures called the father which depicts a man sitting on a chair in a dark room while a woman stand in the light with her face away from him washing up the dishes this suggest that she does the work in the house and that the man just sits in front of the TV. Also the house is very dirty and has no wall paper or proper paint on the walls this also reinforce the idea that  the man is not doing any work for the up keep of the house.

The second image i have chosen is called sunday roast which depicts two people having a sunday diner a woman and a boy but is appear that someone is missing probably a father as he is not depicted in the image any where this image differs from the first one because the house is very clean and looks as if someone takes care of the house.

This image is called beneath the roses Einstein's dream. Which depicts an unhappy couple in a bed room this symbolizes how Einstein had a dream to change physics for ever but he could change his own life. Another meaning could be that the couple are standing far apart because they have an unhappy marrage and don't want to be in the same bed.
